The days fly by

Friday 24 May

The days go by so quickly! Here it is Friday already and despite intentions of blogging every day I haven't seemed to find the time.

Monday morning Locket woke up and she wasn't feeling too well.
Sore tummy and sore throat.
No dance for Locket today.
I was tired after a full weekend so relaxed with a book for a while.

Sent an email to find out if there were still tickets for the Infinite Dance crew who had some performances as a fundraiser to get to Worlds comps this year.
Brains wanted to go and watch.
No dance for him today as his class was on when the Crew were performing
and his teacher is part of the crew!
Checked back later and booked him a ticket for Tuesday at 8pm.

I know other things happened...but they've already faded in the mists of time...
even though it's not that long ago!

I went to the last session of the CAP Money course.
I enjoyed the challenge of just using cash...not using Eftpos though it took
a little getting used to in the beginning.
Just a different way of thinking. Though it was how I grew up!
Before the days of Eftpos and internet banking.
Tried to get into the online worksheet but it's telling me I need an updated browser.
Hmmmm....more thought needed on that one!

Tuesday
Did some thinking and ringing re beads/sequins for the tutu bodice I'm making.
Went to Soptlight the other day. They used to have a really good range.
They still have some but not the type I am wanting!
They are getting a new supplier in around a month.

Quickly altered and hemmed a pair of pants for Moneypenny's sis-in-law.

Locket still not feeling well, not quite so bad but definitely not up to any dancing...
though I did suggest she go over her Barefoot.
The comp is next weekend.

Brains got on with some book work.
Math, physics and chemistry.
He wants to learn Latin so will check out some resources for that.
It looks as though there is some marking for me to do.
Locket also did a little Math.

A-M Professor popped in with some fish his bro-in-law had caught over the weekend.
It had been frozen over the weekend so was defrosting.
Guess what's for tea tonight!
Little Sunshine was asleep in their new car, so I popped down to chat
with Monneypenny and give her the pants for her S-I-L.
And of course have a peep at Little Sunshine

Their new and first car is very like this one...A 2007 Toyota Corolla Fielder.
Very nice to drive. I know as I helped test drive it :)
And got to drive it from the car yard to their home as Monneypenny doesn't drive....yet!
A-M Prof was at work when we picked it up on Saturday.
They've been saving hard and so paid in full.
It should do them for years.

While we were talking a neighbour, G, popped out with her husband, M, to say hello to
A-M Prof  & Monneypenny and have a peep at Little Sunshine.
Then another neighbours daughter, J, her husband and baby drove past
then pulled up to say hi.
They have recently returned from America where J married M
and their wee one K was born.
They've now come here to live.

Brains went into Wellington City on the train.
He had some books to return to the central library, and a voucher
from JB Hi Fi he'd been given for his birthday.
From Smurfette I think.
He came home later with a couple of DVD's.

Took Brains out to his ballet class, then popped back home.
Locket again not well enough for her class.
Boar got home and so he peeled spuds to make chips and battered the fish and cooked it
while I picked Brains up from his class.

A quick dinner then I took Brains into the city for the show he was watching.
I decided to go to the Tararua Tramping Club meeting.
It is close to where the show was and around the same time.
More fuel efficient than returning home and going back into the city later!

The speaker was talking about 50yrs of mapping in Antarctica.
It was really interesting with a lot of cool photos.
Brains would have enjoyed it too.

Brians and I met up where I had parked the car.
When we returned home Brains and Locket wanted to watch one of his movies

They both really enjoyed it. I'll have to watch it some time soon.
I went to bed and read for a while, then chased them both to bed when the movie finished.

Wednesday's/Thursday's posts will have to wait as I need to get
cracking on a tutu bodice now!

Happy Birthday Brains!

Sunday 19 May 2013

Today it is 16yrs since our 3rd son & 5th cild was born!
The time has gone so quickly

His blog name stems from the fact that he is a bright lad and he now wears glasses :)

Brains was up before I left for church so I was able to wish him a happy birthday before I left.

I am one of the three helping with the littles one at childrens church this term'.
It keeps us busy and they are entertaining wee beings!
They are between 2 1/2 and 5-6yrs old.
One young lad is very full on with not much sitting still ability.
I had the task of keeping him out of mischief.
We meet at a local intermediate school so there are computers
and all sorts for him to get into!

After church I popped into the supermarket and then home briefly.
I was going to Lower Hutt with Frosty, Jester, Globug and Jester's son D, as they
were looking at buying a new tv.

We got that sorted, though it was a bit of a mission!

Home again and I threw together a Gluten-Free sponge.
I had organised the dinner but had to leave it to Boar to put the chicken on,
do the veges and get them on.
Mr P arrived as he is having dinner with us tonight.
I put the sponge in the oven, then headed off to pick up
Moneypenny and Little Sunshine from Titahi Bay and take them home.
I had a quick cuppa when I dropped them off then headed back home.

The dinner was mostly ready and I was given a ribbing for arriving late.
I'd said I'd be there at 6pm...it was 6.09pm!!

Boar and Brains had been moving furniture as a sofa bed had to go from one room to another and a bed from upstairs to downstairs to go into the room Mr P will be using.
Plus there is "stuff" I need to sort through.

I quickly made the gravy then we were ready to eat.
Usually there are many more of us...but we decided to have a joint dinner with everyoone next week.
It is Smurfette's birthday next week...exactly 1 week after Brain's.
So with a joint dinner everyone doesn't need to come out 2wks in a row!

We had a great time around the table, chatting and spending time together.
Brains had some good conversation with his Grandad, Mr P.

I tucked up into bed soon after he left just before 9pm.

I'm reading the Third Cadfael Omnibus...stories set in the 1100's
It's kind of like CSI in the 1100's as there is usually a murder and Brother Cadfael, a monk,
helps figure out whodunnit!

I'm enjoying them, but I couldn't keep my eyes open for long!

A busy 10 days

The last 10 days have been busy, visits to see how Frosty and Globug are doing, dancing classes, visit's with other family and the general running of the household.

Frosty and Globug are doing well. Globug is gaining weight well after a small loss as many babies do just after birth.
Globug is nursing very well and settling into a bit of a 3hr pattern....some of the time :)
Frosty, Jester annd Globug have been out and about.

Last Monday I went to the CAP Money course in the evening. Our church is running one. We've always had a budget but I wanted to see if I could refine it any as things have been a bit tougher lately.

I've implemented the ideas so hope things will be a little easier :)

Tuesday a friend, M, from Lower Hutt visited, she stayed a few hours and we chatted
and shared time together.

Wednesday I went out with A-M Professor, Moneypenny and Little Sunshine as they
were looking at cars to buy.

Last Thursday Frosty walked up here with Globug in the buggy to have a visit.

Friday I went to Life group and watched the next session of the DVD Bible study we are doing.
In the afternoon I picked up Moneypenny and Little Sunshine so they could spend the afternoon with us.
I made a lovely Spag Bol for dinner with Tuna sauce for Boar as he doesn't eat meat.
I used lamb for the Spag Bol and Brains, Locket and I all decided we prefer beef!
I took them home around 7.30pm which is when A-M Prof finishes work.

Saturday.....Went over to my dad's, Mr P, to help with the sale of the organ. As he will soon be moving in with us not everything can come. He needed this organ to go so I suggested trade Me.

I sold it via Trade Me on Mr P's behalf and the buyers had arranged to come then.
Boar asked if he should come to help with the lifting but I had the impression the buyers
were not taking it then.

As I found out there had been a misunderstanding I and had to call Boar.
He didn't take long to arrive and it was soon loaded up.

It has found a new home with Raetihi Gospel Chapel, which pleased Mr P very much :)

Then it was home and off again to pick up Moneypenny and Little Sunshine.
The family had bought something they needed help with transporting.

It was delivered and Moneypenny and Little Sunshine came back here for some lunch.
The plan was to take them to her mum's inTitahi Bay later on.

I got busy making up the toile of the tutu bodice as the client and her mum were
coming after 5pm for a fitting session.

Little Sunshine and Monneypenny had a nap...and when they woke it was 5pm and Moneypenny decided that she would go home instead of to her Mum's.

Client arrived and the fitting went well though as expected there are a few adjustments needed.

After that I took Moneypenny and Little Sunshine home and spent a short time chatting with them and son A-M-Professor. He's pretty tired as he is working long shifts and Little Sunshine is a night-waker which means their nights are interrupted. Less sleep, more tiredness.

Some dinner then I tucked into bed...but didn't stay awake long.

A Beautiful Birth

Wednesday 8 May

Today we were blessed to welcome a new baby to our family. Frosty, our second daughter and her fiance, Jester, have been looking forward to the birth of their first baby.

Frosty was due around 2nd May, had been doing well then there was some concern that he was not growing as well as expected, his weight was guestimated,  and I do mean that word! at 2.8kg  roughly 6lbs! which used to be considered fine as far as I know, though now the average baby is 8lbs apparently!

This had meant a a couple of CTG monitorings plus an extra scan. The decision was reached that if Frosty hadn't gone into labour by Wednesday that was induction day.

Frosty was by then having contractions, many of them pretty good ones according to the monitor...though she wasn't finding them painful...strong, yes, but she has a high pain threshold.

So the morning saw us arrive at delivery suite at Wellington Hospital by 7.30am. Frosty, Jester, ''the bump'' and I was there as an extra support person.

The midwife soon arrived, plus another who had been seeing Frosty for her antenatal check-ups.

Things soon got underway around 10am and the contractions sped up. Frosty handled the contractions well, and found the nitrous oxide aka "laughing gas" worked well for her. Jester did a great job of support, I tried to stay as much in the background as possible.

The contractions got more intense as they do closer to the birth and soon baby's head was crowning.

I've been very blessed to be at the birth's of my three grandchildren to be born so far.
It is amazing to see them born. Very special...and a bit nerve-wracking as well.

Baby's head emerged, then the rest of his body. At 1pm and weighing 3.2kg, 7lb 1oz.
He was lifted to his mama's tummy...the midwife commented that his cord was short.

Frosty just wanted to hold her blessed baby, and Jester wanted to be there for them both. So the midwife asked if I wanted to cut baby's cord and I was delighted to :)

When the rest of the cord and placenta were delivered it turned out the cord had torn nearly all the way across!!

The midwives concluded it had happened just as he was born...there had been a bleed which was thought to be from Frosty, but was probably from the cord.

Words cannot convey what I was feeling then...relief that all was ok, love for this newest wee one.
Most of all thanks to God for keeping this wee one safe.
If the cord had torn earlier it could have been a very different story.
Baby most likely would have died.

Thanks also that Frosty was well and healthy as too.
Frosty and Jester had cuddles, and later Frosty dressed her wee son.

I was delighted to have cuddles as well.

For this blog the newest member is to be Globug, for now :)....Jester says baby looks like a little globug when he is all wrapped up with his wee hat on!

After a wee while we headed off as Frosty and Globug were spending the night at
Kenepuru Maternity ward.

We dropped Jester off home as he needed some sleep.
We picked up Brains and Locket so they could come and meet their newest nephew.

After settling Frosty and Globug at Kenepuru Maternity I went and picked up A-M Professor, Monneypenny and Little Sunshine so they could visit for a wee while and meet Globug too.

We didn't stay for long as the afternoon was wearing on and I knew it could all catch up with Frosty soon.
Plus Smurfette was planning on calling in to visit her sis Frosty and nephew after she finished work.

I did text Frosty later in the evening to see how things were going and all was well.
Globug was nursing pretty well, learning as all babies need to.

So that was Wednesday 8 May 2013...a full day welcoming a new life.

Each birth is miraculous. We are very blessed to have a new little one in our midst.

Roll call

Ok this is going to be a short post. I finally have a list of names...these things take time :)

So a brief intro to our family. These are the names they/we worked out :)

There's the head of the household...my DH...who will be Boar. Then there is me..I'm Mama Bear...my lovelies call me that so I decided that would do :)

Our oldest son is to be Absent-Minded Professor, A-M Prof, for short. His lovely wife is Moneypenny, and their wee girl who is 14months is Little Sunshine.

Our oldest daughter chose Smurfette, for herself.

Our 2nd son has chosen Butcher,  his girlfriend is to be Chuckles and their wee lad who is 13months Halfpint. All these names are from a 2012 Snow White movie called Mirror Mirror. I just watched a trailer and think I'll get the movie out to watch as it looks pretty funny. There is a list of the Seven Dwarfs names on Wikipedia, more than I expected, quite a number of different ones.

Next in line is our second daughter Frosty, which is what her fiance calls her. He is to be Jester and then there is their new wee one...more about that in the next post :)

Then comes our third son who I've named Brains, yup, after the guy on Thunderbirds.

Last in the line up is our youngest daughter Locket, it's what I've called her for years.

That's our immediate family...I may come up with names for others, though they will more than likely stay as initials.

Roll call finished :)

No more playing catch up!!

Saturday 11 May

Well I've decided two things.
One is that I'm not going to play catch-up-the-blog.
So much time has past & our lives are not that exciting!
So it's a fresh start as mostly routine things happenend over the last few weeks.
The other thing I decided is I'm going to give all family members pseudonyms.
I will ask if they want to choose their own...otherwise I'll have fun choosing :)

We celebrated Locket's (Miss L's) birthday with a few of her friends.
Locket made her own invitations.

We went to H20 Xtream then back home for dinner

I thought this was a good shot...they were trying to stand, got there then someone shoved the mattress and I caught them just as they were falling.

They later suceeded in standing :)

They all made their own pizzas for dinner then we had the cake.
A Gluten Free Banana Chocolate Chip cake.
It was very nice even if I do say so myself :)

I got a shot of the sleeping beauties the next morning

And not much left of the cake...though it did last a day!

That's it for this entry. Have a great day.
